Why people look for a Wispr Flow alternative
- Privacy. With a cloud service, what you dictate is sent to its servers. With Volna, your audio and your text never leave your Mac.
- Offline. Volna keeps working on a plane, on a train or behind a strict company firewall.
- The subscription. Volna is free while in beta, with no weekly word limit.
What Volna does
- One key in any app (the right ⌘, or ⌥Space); the text appears where your cursor is, about a second after you stop speaking.
- English, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish first, and English terms inside a sentence in another language.
- Your own vocabulary: names, tools and terms, and corrections Volna can remember.
- A history of your dictations, on your Mac.
When Wispr Flow is the better choice
- You also dictate on Windows, an iPhone or an Android phone: Volna is Mac only for now.
- Your Mac has an Intel processor or runs a macOS older than 26: Volna needs Apple Silicon and macOS 26.
- You are fine with cloud processing and want one service with your words on every device.
